World Poker Tour has partnered with partypoker to run the WPT World Online Poker Championship this summer. Running from July 1 to August 9, the 15 championship venues will make this series the largest awake online competition series in partypoker’s history.
Online poker was doing well during the COVID-19 lockdown, if that moment continues into the summer we can expect bigger series like the WPT World Online Poker Championships to be created.
Tom Waters, Managing Director of partypoker, explains:
“With a live poker agenda likely to be vacant during the troublesome summer months of the traditional way, we’ve been working on the idea for a major online festival to provide options for players who generally migrate to Vegas. ”
The initial Powerfest festival broke all records for partypoker with the pair entering with $ 60 million in collateral. Does this mean we could want more than this $ 70 million opportunity?
partypoker key fixer Rob Yong has been bothering to do everything he can to fuel the attraction between players who generally buy in increasingly modest quantities.
For starters he’s offering 50 of his Twitter followers a $ 109 free satellite ticket just to reply. One of them expressed joy because he had never played a competition of that kind of value until Yong explained to him that he would give him free entry to one of the mini MTT events in the series.
“Have never played MTT $ 109 yet, you look like you’ll love – say you want – e-mail @E_Branners (see e-mail above) & I’ll give you an entry to one of the Mini MTT events in a personal way because it cheers me on. ”
One more time partypoker is running a smaller and smaller event to make their festival complete. They understand that if not everyone can be trapped in large companies and still provide cheaper options.
This is a phenomenal bond between the two biggest names in the industry. Tom Waters adds:
“I would love it if we could partner with WPT poker88 to relive the WPT World Championship again and bring the series online for the first time. ”
Yong recalled that the WPT World Championships, held at Bellagio in Las Vegas, were his favorite series as well as the legendary Dave “Devilfish” Ulliot. If all goes well, we might even see a permanent online versus held every year.
